Eyesonic 3D Noise Reduction Technology

Eyesonic's new 3D DNR Noise Reduction Technology enables low light capabilities without the use of infrared (IR). Capable of increasing gain sensitivity by 30dB.

Typical digital noise reduction as used in many camera applications compares images in sequence over a predetermined period of time, blending the images between fields or frames. The theory is that by blending data over time you can reduce the overall noise content of the resulting image. Traditional DNR technology's blending processing is limited to a specific range of frames and the process is replicated every few frames. After every few frames, the DNR will reset and noise will appear and disappear several frames later, and the process starts over again.

To eliminate the on and off problem of traditional DNR, Eyesonic's 3D DNR combines the information in multiple frames of a video on a pixel by pixel basis and processes are applied to each pixel in the final frame. Since each pixel is individually calculated, the final result is a more precise noise reduction with less motion blurring artifacts.
